Speech by the Basic Education Minister, Mrs Angie Motshekga, at the Official Release of the Annual National Assessments (ANA) Results for 2014, 04 Dec.

Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga on the 04 Dec 2014 officially released Annual National Assessment (ANA) results for 2014. ANA was put in place by Department of Basic Education (DBE) as a strategy to annually measure the progress in learner achievement towards the 2014 target of ensuring that at least 60% of learners achieve acceptable levels in Literacy and Numeracy. ANA targets Literacy and Numeracy because these two are regarded universally as key foundation skills for successful learning in schools and beyond. Again, ANA is one of the initiatives that form the backbone of the DBE’s Action Plan to 2014: Towards the Realisation of Schooling 2025.
